Profiles Assessment Tools

The Center for U.S. Missions is working with Profiles International to bring helpful personal assessment tools to churches and church leaders. The use of such assessment tools allows ministry leaders (supervisors) to:

  • Help people learn their own strengths and weaknesses, enhancing their success.
  • Provide useful information for the hiring process and in coaching relationships
  • Maximize the productivity of their employees and teams

When used in placements or hiring situations, assessment tools provide information of great value and should be an important part of the hiring process. It is recommended that they are about a third of the final decision.

Specific uses of these assessment tools include:

  • Assist district executives in assessing candidates for various church positions
  • Assist pastors of large churches in the calling and hiring of staff
  • Help teams (church staff teams, district teams, etc.) function more productively

How it works:

  1. The supervisor purchases the assessment tool from the Center for U.S. Missions through this secure website or by calling our office 734-648-0185. Supervisor identifies person(s) who will take the assessment and determines whether the reports will be sent.
  2. The Center for U.S. Missions sends complete instructions with a website address, user id and password to each person who is to take the assessment.
  3. The individual completes the assessment.
  4. Reports are emailed in PDF format to the designated supervisor.

Three assessment tools are available:

The Profiles Performance Indicator (PPI) takes 15-20 minutes to complete. It measures eight job-related areas work productivity, quality of work, initiative, working with a team, problem solving, motivational energy, response to job-related stress and how to motivate at work. The report, a sample of which is attached, is available in a format for the individual, the supervisor, and a graphic summary. Cost of each PPI is $85.00.

The Profile XT (PXT) takes about an hour to complete. It is a multi-purpose assessment used for selection, coaching, training, promotion, managing, and succession planning. The individual's scores on the PXT can be compared to specific job match patterns ("benchmarks") compiled from people successful in their field. Currently, job match patterns are available for mission developers, large church pastors and youth directors. Other benchmarks are available on request. A sample of the PXT report is available below, and comes in various formats: for the individual, for the person who will be coaching that individual, as well as for comparing the individual's results to specific benchmarks. Cost of each PXT is $195.00.

The Profiles Team Analysis (PTA) takes each team member about 20 minutes to complete. It analyzes a team made up of a leader and up to twelve team members. They are measured in 12 factors critical to team success. The report includes the Team Balance Table (a summary of where the leader and each team member scored on the 12 characteristics),  and explores characteristics not well represented on the team. It also reviews key behavioral factors to utilize individual strengths and a Team Leader Action Summary with suggested action steps. Each member of the team takes the PTA, plus two additional PTA's are required to build or reconfigure a team. For example, a 6-member team would require a total of 8 PTA's, one for each individual plus two additional PTA's to build the team. Cost of each PTA is $80.00.
