Online Distance Learning Course for Church Planters
Church Planters now have the opportunity to participate in high quality, online and economical church planter training through a new distance learning course called Planting the Missional Church.
The course has been developed through partnership of the Center for United States Missions and Concordia Seminary in St. Louis, Missouri. The authors of the course are successful (grace-enabled) church planters, district mission executives and missional leaders.
The third cohort of church planters will begin learning activities on February 13, 2012. Registration for the cohort of Planting the Missional Church will remain open until February 1, 2012.
An additional cohort of Planting the Missional Church will be offered July, 2012.
The course revolves around the six phases of a new church plant (family planning, conception, prenatal development, birth, adolescence and reproduction) and includes the writing and implementation of a Mission Initiation Plan. Each church planting phase is introduced with a recent video of current and successful church planters who reflect on what God has blessed in their church planting ministries. A qualified Mentor with successful church planting experience is assigned to each church planter for the duration of the course, walking together with the church planter in the preparation and implementation of the Mission Initiation Plan. Church planters also have regular live streamed interaction with one another - and with the course facilitator, Rev. Michael R. Ruhl.
Each church planting phase is augmented with required outside readings. The learning modules are organized in such a way that Church Planters discover specific answers to these specific questions in each phase:
1. Who am I?
2. What am I called to do?
3. Who will do it with me?
4. How will we do it?
5. How will we evaluate our progress?
Following completion of the Mission Initiation Plan and positive endorsement from the Church Planter Mentor, certification is awarded to the Church Planter by the Center for United States Missions.
