What is NOT necessary for CPAC?
What you really don't need to register for CPAC
Academic credentials are important, but not essential for church planter assessment. Theological training can be "in process" at the seminary—or experienced "on the job."
Previous pastoral and ministry experience is desirable, but not essential.
A Particular Age, Gender, or Marital Status
A church planter's effectiveness is not determined by being a married male who has worked for 15 years in the ministry. Effectiveness as a church planter calls for an excited commitment to Christ and furthering His gospel message.
Ordination is preferred but not mandatory. Pre-ordination pastors (seminarians) who are considering eventual calling to church planting ministry are excellent candidates for CPAC. The LCMS tradition honors lay-led ministries and the SMP (Special Ministries Program) to participate in CPAC as well.
Knowledge of Church Planting
Though an understanding of church planting concepts is helpful, it is not a pre-requisite. Every church plant is different and every church planter has a unique learning curve.
